This site contains some explanatory notes that I have written on the rules of golf.

Just click on the rule you want to look at in the left hand column.

The purpose of these notes is to give a quick,

and above all, simple overall view of a particular rule to the novice,

and those who may have been playing for many years, who now want to get to grips with the rules of the game.

Seeing as the purpose of these notes is to give a grounding to the rules, I have tried not to quote rule numbers and sub sections,

as I find many are put off by this.

There are times though when it is unavoidable.

Please read these notes in conjunction with the rule book. Read the notes then read the rule book.

If you now understand the rule a little better, I have accomplished what I have set out to do.

There are a lot of "ifs and butts" that could be included in the notes but I have decided to keep them as simple as possible.

If you think there are any omissions or that anything needs correcting then please let me know.

I also need to learn.
