Ball at rest Moved

I am often asked "what should be done if the ball moves. Is there a penalty? should the ball be replaced or played from its new position?" The rule that covers this is R18, and the answer to the above depends on who or what caused the ball to move. I have devised a flow chart that should cover most situations and may help answer those questions.

Start at the top by ascertaining who or what has caused the ball to move, and work through the chart. Hopefully the answer as to penalties and whether the ball should be played as it lies or replaced will be given.
